Ed Rondthaler passes away, aged 104.

Ed Rondthaler: Typographer, died earlier this week, aged 104. The famous wordsman's entire life was dedicated to the written and printed word, with a myriad of achievements including the invention of the Rutherford Photo-Lettering Machine, the first photographic typesetting device, paving the way for a world beyond metal press typefaces. Together with Aaron Burns, and the great Herb Lubalin, he helped found the International Typeface Corporation (ITC), a foundry which brought us the likes of ITC Avant Garde. His later years were spent championing for the reform of the English language as a means of fighting illiteracy.
The world, needs more people like these. RIP Ed.
