Just a heads up for all the VisComm kids looking for stuff to review for the Reading the Contemporary unit - there's a whole heap of stuff going on at the moment. Coming to a close this week is
Batteries Not Included over at ACP in Paddington- "Part art exhibition and part Frankenstein's laboratory, Batteries Not Included gives a heart-starting jolt to contemporary photocollage. Splicing photographs with performance, re-animating found images or mechanising the moving picture, the artists in this exhibition embrace experimentation, creating vigorous new hybrids from unlikely unions." featuring Ben Barretto, Martin Bell, The Changes, Marley Dawson, Ross Manning, Spat + Loogie, Jonathan Zawada and filmmaker Paul Winkler.
Show closes this Saturday so get in quick. more info here.
*bonus picture of Paul (TBI) and our favourite girlies Liz & Kat at Batteries Not Included last month.

...Also on.
Much blogged about Denis Darzacq opens at ACP on Friday 13 March to Sunday 12 April. The Frenchman tours on the back of winning the World Press Photo award in 2007, this time bringing along his Hyper series (pictured. Note, there's no digital manipulation or photoshopping in that one.) Mind boggling stuff. More info here

Mark O'Meally at (the not so new location now) China Heights gallery at Crown St, Darlinghurst. Probably one for the more skater types, you'll probably remember him as the freebie throwing skateboard photographer guy at Semi Permanent that caused a bit of a ruckus front of stage. He's a pretty big deal in the skate magazine world, so be sure to check it out. more info here.
