chronicles of never.

are on sale!

for tomorrow.

With the days getting shorter and shorter, and the end of summer just about here, it's time to shed the colours and bring back the black coats and grey jeans (not that we ever stopped wearing them). So in searching hi and low for some new Autumn/Winter threads, I re-stumbled across For Tomorrow. First and foremost an online store- stocking the best of menswear from local labels - including Saint Augustine Academy & Trimapee- the site also run a blog dedicated to supporting local music and fashion, with regular updates and news on the likes of Ksubi & Chronicles of Never.

epic stop motion.

so this is probably the most blogged about video in recent months, appearing on virtually every other blog my Google Reader is subscribed to, not to mention my own personal blog, but being stop motion, I figure it's design enough (and amazingly good at that) to share with you. If you've already seen it, watch it again. I know I've seen it about 30 times. and it never gets old.

pages party.

the cobra snake vs. the selby.

so i burn alot of time on the internet, like alot. sometimes facebook, sometimes ffffound, sometimes hipster runoff. ALOT of time. 2 sites that seem to get more of my attention then most are Mark Hunter's The Cobra Snake (1 of 2 people i consider my icon) and Todd Selby's The Selby.

If you're not quite sure of who these 2 people are, Hunter is LA's premier party photographer- hanging with the likes of Steve Aoki, Hunter's camera records the hipsters and trendsetters of the world. His website draws an alleged 60,000 views a day.

Selby on the other hand photograph's some of the world's most interesting people- from directors, musicians, architects, painters, actors and models- all shot in the comfort of their own homes and creative studios.

Anyway, reason for the rant, the boys at Monster Children Gallery are hosting the two, for a joint photographic exhibition. Called "Predator & Home Alone" the exo opens on Friday night, the 6th of March at 6pm, and continuing till the 21st attt the MC Gallery at 20 Burton St, Darlinghurst.

curvy.

Australia's favourite indie magazine for chicks, YEN, is back for this year's round of Curvy- an exhibition and book featuring the best female artists and illustrators in the world. The exhibition runs together with Semi-Permanent, in early April, and so the people at Yen are frantically trying to put the annual book together.

Good news is, for this week only, they're still accepting submissions. Obviously, there is a specific criteria, so hit it up HERE for more details. Remember, submissions shut on friday, so get in quick. Oh and, girls only yeah.

oh lordy. it's moleskine meets helvetica.

So The Bold Italics were back at uni today, and at one point there was much discussion about diarys and notebook and moleskines alike. Friend of ours May pointed this out to me, which she came across on her travels to Japan. The notebooks were put together by Groovisions of Japan, along side Helvetica and Moleskine to mark the exhibition "Tribute to typography - Helvetica, past, present and future of the typography" at the Laforet Museum in Harajuku last October.

They are limited edition however, with only 500 up for grabs around Asia.

slimane.

Hedi Slimane, fashion icon, is keeping me busy many a rainy day with his photographic diary. The man's got his right hand in fashion, working for Dior Homme, and shooting for every major fashion magazine on this planet, including the likes of French Vogue. Click on for hundreds of previously unseen and unpublished works, and lots and lots of smoking shots- and always and all in black and white.

day n nite n so me.

Ed Banger's famed head designer So Me has lent a helping hand to Kid Cudi for the release of his long overdue video for summer anthem Day 'n Night. The video is through and through So Me, with his iconic pop animations pouring over live footage- as seen in Justice's D.A.N.C.E video and Kanye West's Good Life.

alex trochut.

so here at The Bold Italics, we're pretty big on typography, and it doesn't get much bigger than Alex Trochut. Based in Barcelona, the typographer/illustrator has some pretty insane stuff. Was flicking through his newly updated website last night, and it just has to be shared.
